- Catacombs and Pompeii’s Pillar of Kom El Shoqafa.  The Catacombs are
extensive tombs on three levels dating from the 2nd century.  The decoration of the
tombs is a mixture of Pharonic and Greco-Roman, making them extremely
interesting.  A short walk down the road is Pompeii’s Pillar which stands 30 metres
high.
- Tombs of Anfushi.
- Tombs of Mustafa Kamel
- Roman Theatre and Villa of the Birds at Kom el Dikka.  The Theatre dates from
the 4th Century AD, and the Villa from 2nd century AD.  This site is under constant
change with new discoveries from ongoing excavations.

Library.  This spectacular building, finished in 2000 is well worth a visit.  Tours are
available.

Fort Qaitbey.  Built in 1477 on the site of the ancient island of Pharos, where the
world famous lighthouse once stood.  The Fort is now home of the Navel Museum.

Greco-Roman Museum.  Built in 1895 in neoclassic style, it has recently
undergone renovation.  The Museum has 27 rooms and an elegant garden.  Housed
in the museum are many finds including sarcophagi, statues, stelae and even a small
second century BC temple dedicated to the crocodile Sobek.

Alexandrian Museum.  This is a new museum opened in 2003.

The Royal Jewellery Museum.  This is housed in the former Royal Palace
belonging to Princess Fatma al Zahra.
