interesting sites to offer, especially of the Greco-Roman period.
Beaches - There are
several beaches along
the North Coast that are
lovely to visit.
Shopping - There is approximately 10 Egyptian pounds to the pound sterling.
Shopping for food is incredibly cheap, especially meat.
 You can buy basic food
items in King Mariout, and there is an excellent butcher.  Also there is a pharmacy.
15 minutes drive away there is a large Carrefour Shopping Centre, where you can
buy everything.
Clothes are very good value.  Many of the designer labels are
manufactured in Egypt making those items often a third of the price.
Day Trips -  Cairo and the pyramids - 2 hours away.
The War Memorials and museum of El Alamein - 1 hour away.
1 or 3 day Desert Trip and go sand boarding on the dunes!

Montaza Gardens.  This lovely area is situated to the east of Alexandria, and takes
about an hour from King Mariout.
Restaurants.  Eating out is incredibly cheap, and Alexandria has a wide variety of
restaurants available
.
A trip to the souks (Egyptian markets)
in Mansheya cannot be missed.
There you have the material souk,
the toy souk, the paper souk, and the
colourful food market to name but a
few.If you are interested in antiques
and also in the furniture workshops,
Attarine is the place to go.
